Nickname: Cap'n Happy
About Me: Retired and raising my puppy. That's a full time job.
When did you FIRST THINK about getting a motorcycle? 1968 When I was in the Army I needed some cheap transportation on my $30/mo. income.
What attracted you to your current bike? First and foremost is looks, I gotta like they way they look then size is a close second.
Fastest you’ve ridden? I've got about 135 mph once.
How long does it take you to polish your bike? Probably less than an hour, I never let them get real dirty.
Helmet or no helmet? Always wear a helmet, something I've always had to do. FL is the 1st state I've lived in that didn't require one.
How many bikes have you owned? Seven
If you could change something about your bike, what would it be?
Nothing, pretty much got them the way I like em!!
What is the next accessory you will be adding? Again nothing I can think of.
Favorite road song? Born to be Wild
What are 3 lessons you’ve learned about riding safely in the past 12 months? I don't know about the last 12 months, but: Number 1 is never assume they can see you. Number 2 always watch behind you when coming to a stop and have an escape route. Number 3 Don't hug the center line on narrow roadways. This could cause the opposing traffic to run off the road and then over correct right into your path.
Longest ride? 730 miles 2002 from KC to Sturgis
What was the worst weather you’ve ridden? Hail storm!! They HURT!!
Favorite time of the year to ride? Spring or Fall. Definitely not the summer.
Next event you would like to attend? Party in the Panhandle.
Ever hit any critters, alive or dead? Hit a few dead ones, does a snake count?
Do you have a ride bell on your bike? Of course, doesn't everybody?
Why do you ride? I love the feeling of freedom you get from riding. It's like skiing down a mountain.
What is your “dream machine”? I have them.
If you had only 7 bucks left in your wallet, what would you do with it? Borrow 10 bucks from someone and fillup the tank, and take a ride.
Why did you join the Pensacola SCRC Chapter? I transferred from the KC chapter, so I've had pleasant experience with the SCRC, always a great bunch of members and fun group to associate with.
