Tell a little bit (brag) about yourself: (also, what are you doing in life now) I was born in Norfolk, VA in my parent’s apartment complex named Azalea Garden Apartments, hence the name. I traveled the world until reaching the age of 5 when my dad decided to settle down here in Pensacola. Bowling was a passion for me since the 4th grade, and almost went pro during my college years. I was going to quit college, but then met Craig who convinced me to finish. After two years of courtship we married and moved to Hawaii for a three year honeymoon! Girl’s softball was our obsession; I played and Craig coached. Even when I became pregnant, I kept playing 2nd base up ‘till I was 4 months along. A pulled groin muscle forced me to stop. Then Craig got orders to a ship out of Norfolk, VA. That sucked. After living three years in the tri-city with mostly military families, Craig pushed to have his final tour duty back home in Pensacola, which he got, and then retired. We now have two children: Tyler (14) and Alyssa (10 ½). Craig has ridden motorcycles since he was young, and wanted me to ride as well. So he signed my up for a class. Wrong move. Riding is now a craving for me. I’ve only been riding for four years now, 3 ½ of that time was with the Pensacola Chapter. I have been thru the basic and advanced riding classes taught here in Pensacola, and am eager to learn more. I also help instruct the Accident Scene Management course with Chris "YoMama" Heath. I feel like I can’t get enough learning about riding! I am now an Administrative Assistant for the Member Services department at the Pensacola Bay Area Chamber of Commerce
Hobbies: motorcycles (of course!), photography, bowling, softball, and whatever my children are into.
Q: when did you FIRST THINK about getting a motorcycle? When I was a child, but my dad said that “girls don’t ride motorcycles, nor do they drive trucks”. HA! Now I have both!
Q: what attracted you to your current bike? it was a Christmas gift.
Q: fastest you’ve ridden? 103, didn’t even know it ‘till I looked down at the speedometer.
Q: how long does it take you to polish your bike? what?
Q: helmet or no helmet? Hmmm, I teach an Accident Scene Mgmt course ….
Q: how many bikes have you owned? I’m on my third bike.
Q: if you could change something about your bike, what would it be? Change my stock seat to an Ultimate.
Q: what is the next accessory you will be adding? Maybe a new windshield or a driver’s backrest.
Q: favorite road song? No favorites, just whatever is on my MP3 player
Q: what are 3 lessons you’ve learned about riding safely in the past 12 months? That I CAN make a U-turn in a 2 lane road without putting my foot down, that after almost eight hours of riding I’m really tired, and that when you’re on a downhill slope DON’T squeeze the front brakes to come to a stop!
Q: longest ride? About 550 miles in one day, from Pensacola to Tallahassee and back, taking all back roads and those along the water.
Q: what was the worst weather you’ve ridden in? a downpour thunderstorm coming from Mobile, AL to Pensacola, on the interstate (first group no less)
Q: favorite time of the year to ride? I live in Florida … but to be specific, Spring
Q: next event you would like to attend? Either the Honda Hoot, or Sturgis
Q: ever hit any critters, alive or dead? Yes, a live snake and dead armadillo
Q: do you have a ride bell on your bike? of course, very superstitious!
Q: why do you ride? I don’t have to listen to Craig! (just kidding) I love the feeling of the ride, the places only a bike can take you, and the awareness of your surroundings that only a bike can give you. It makes all your senses come alive! And being with a group of friends helps too!
Q: what is your “dream machine”? I like what I have, but a HD Heritage Softail, Road King or a Vulcan 1600 Classic would be nice!
Q: if you had only 7 bucks left in your wallet, what would you do with it? I would actually go to an ATM to add to it.
Q: why did you join the Pensacola SCRC Chapter? Craig made me do it …
